For years now, Drukkerij Van Der Poorten has been working on reducing its ecological footprint. The purchase of a hybrid car represents yet another step in this direction. The Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid is a car that recently won the Clean Car of the Year Award.
It has a driving range of up to 50 km on electricity, and up to 900 km in the hybrid mode. In this latter mode, the car uses 1.8 litres/100 km, thanks to the efficient way the electric engine works with the diesel engine.
A printer with a focus on the environment
The purchase of this car fits in perfectly with the ecological business strategy of Drukkerij Van Der Poorten. The electric engine is charged each day using the green energy we generate thanks to the solar panels that had been installed at our business premises; these are capable of providing approximately half of our daily energy requirement.
One further step in making our printing facility ‘greener’ was the switch to 100% organic inks. These inks are fully bio-degradable, and even improve the quality of the printing.
Through a variety of initiatives and new technology, Drukkerij Van Der Poorten aims to work on a healthy, green future, and we are happy to serve as a role model in this regard. Check back here regularly to read about our latest efforts.
